After our chat I decided to walked around the lake. It only took 15 feet of trail before I spotted plastic bottles, wadded-up fishing line, and several empty cans of beans. I placed the items in my bag to discard later. I only made two exposures at Price Lake that day; one of a few pieces of recyclable plastic under some rhododendron, and one of Grandfather Mountain from the lake shore.

Picked up 2 bags of garbage today between mm 282-284. Mostly beer bottles and plastic. Going to hit from mm 282 to Grandville overlook tomorrow. Did the same last year as well. One thing that bothers me are the work crews repairing the parkway leaving their garbage. Jim
ReplyDeleteRight on Jim! I just hiked Elk Knob yesterday and there were several bags of dog poop lining the trail from the parking lot to the summit...I think going through the effort of using a bag and leaving on the trail defeats the purpose entirely.
